Clinical psychologist Lisa Cox
is on a mission: to increase access to smoking cessation interventions
among underserved populations with the goal of reducing tobacco-related
disease and health disparities. A specialist in behavioral medicine,
Lisa’s expertise
in tobacco control, cancer prevention and health disparities
research is highly regarded. With 14 years of experience in nicotine
dependence treatment and research, Lisa has received private
and federal funding (NIH, R01 – Kick
It at Swope III), has published extensively and has presented
her research in national and international forums. An active
collaborator in multidisciplinary work in the USA and abroad,
she is currently focused on enhancing smoking cessation treatment
with Latino and African American communities in Kansas. Lisa
is active with colleagues in enhancing Latino health initiatives.
She enjoys mentoring graduate and postdoctoral students, lecturing
within the School of Medicine and being active nationally in
educating healthcare professionals in the treatment of nicotine
dependence.
