What do medical anthropology and public health have in common?
Chris Daley. With her dual expertise, Chris works on community-based
initiatives and applied research in the Native population. Specifically,
Chris is focused on the reduction of health disparities in the
American Indian/Alaskan Native population, enhancing cross-cultural
communication in the health care setting via technology, and
intersecting qualitative and quantitative methodology. Her key
projects for Native people include a colorectal and breast cancer
screening needs assessment and the All Nations Breath of Life
smoking cessation program. She also serves as a qualitative methodologist
on a variety of other projects. In addition to her research,
Chris teaches health disparities and cultural competence, qualitative
methods, and community-based participatory research. Her leadership
is evident in her service as Director of the American Indian
Health Research and Education Alliance and on the Board of Directors
for the American Indian Heartland Cancer Network, while also
participating in other American Indian organizations.
