Professor, Preventive Medicine & Public Health
Director, Kansas Cancer Registry
The Kansas Cancer Registry has been repeatedly awarded the Gold
Standard Award by NAACCR for case completeness, timeliness and
data quality, and is considered a leader among all state cancer
registries. And who’s at the helm? Sue-Min Lai, a leading
chronic disease epidemiologist, established the registry in 1994.
A national leader in the fields of cancer, heart disease, stroke
and spine deformities, Sue is sought out as an expert witness
locally, regionally and nationally. She has even testified before
the U.S. Senate Select Panel on cancer clusters, one of six experts
selected. Her track record in securing federal and non-federal
grant funding in cancer, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
and publishing peer-reviewed articles is astonishing. Sue enjoys
mentoring and teaching in both the MS and the MPH programs. She
serves on the Editorial Board of Neuroepidemiology and is a charter
member of the NIH Cardiovascular and Sleep Epidemiology Study
Section.
