The Kansas Masonic
Cancer Research Institute (KMCRI) has confidence that Jon Mahnken’s research
will shed light on the incidence of oral and pharyngeal cancer through the examination
of Medicare claims. A promising researcher with interests in survival analysis,
power analysis and secondary data analysis, Jon also provides collaborative support
for a variety of clinical and translational research projects funded by NIH and
the American Cancer Society. Areas of study include: preclinical trials for chronic
stroke patients, mammography utilization, nursing home residents’ antipsychotic
medication usage, and smoking cessation behavioral intervention. In addition
to teaching graduate courses for both the MPH and MS in Clinical Research in
the areas of biostatistics, Jonathan serves on various departmental and university
committees including MPH and MS Admissions, the General Clinical Research Center
Advisory Council, and the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee of KMCRI.
Nationally, he provides ad hoc reviews for medical and biostatistical journals,
and has served on NIH study sections.
