Where does one go
to understand the need for biostatistics and informatics within
an academic medical center? Matt Mayo has been making this his
focus since he came to KU Medical Center in 1998. A teacher,
scholar and advocate, Matt has been an active collaborator with
clinicians, teachers and researchers in the fields of cancer
and obesity. His primary statistical methodological research
interests include clinical trial and experimental design and
robust regression methodology. Matt is a member of the National
Cancer Institute’s Cancer
Biomarkers Study Section and is a member of the American Joint Commission on
Cancer (AJCC) Statistical Task Force, the AJCC’s Head and Neck Subcommittee
and their Hepatobiliary Subcommittee. He is also a member of the National Institute
of Neurological Disorders and Stroke’s Secondary Prevention of Small Subcortical
Strokes (SPS3) Data and Safety Monitoring Board. In addition, Matt serves on
numerous committees within KU Medical Center.
